Months before the delivery, hope you have selected an ideal hospital that is not too far to travel and has adequate amenities required for baby including a helpful staff. The doctor is of course the one you have been visiting for periodical checkups.
Plan according to your stay. If you know already that mode of delivery would be a C-section, it will need a longer stay as you body will take a longer time to heal.
Sometimes a doctor has to suddenly decide on C-section against vaginal birth, be ready for the twist and plan accordingly.
Plan packing bags in two parts –things required before and post delivery. Here is a list of items that you should pack-
Nursing bras and breast pads.
Toiletries such as shampoo, soap, toothpaste, tooth brush, moisturizer and lip balm.
Napkins and Towels
Medical File of reports
Notepad and Pen
Baby record book!
List of doctors phone numbers
List of medicines if you are allergic to any.
Camera + charger to capture this special moment
If possible have and experienced friend/family member to be with you in hospital. Hospitals are always short on manpower and cannot provide you minute necessary tips at this point.
If this is your second child see that the sibling of newborn is given due attention. They might feel neglected and feel jealous about everybody’s excitement for the new baby. Best way would be to let the sibling of new born participate and join the preparations in his/her tiny way.
